AF Loft and Section

Major advantage of plugin AF Loft over standard loft in its ability to use
as path an unlimited splines number were united by operation ATTACH
(even without vertices welding). In other words spline can be interrupted form.
This peculiarity is very useful in architectural modeling by operational
change of plinth, frieze or any architectural loft objects. Our tutorial shows
how to use AF Loft jointly with SECTION Modifier in architectural modeling
and observe as one from variants of solution the particular problem.
Scene building.

1. Build the scene like that as shown on picture.

2. Create the SECTION object in the Top View.
3. Activate Front or Left View and set SECTION location by Y Axis on level of estimated
plinth line. In the Section Parameters rollout press the button CREATE SHAPE
and type “Plinth” as a name of Section Shape.

4. Delete SECTION object and select having created by us spline object “Plinth”.
Hide all the rest contents of scene by quad menu command “Hide Unselected”.
As a result we’ll get scene like that you see on the picture. Edit plinth spline.
By DELETE and TRIM operations delete unnecessary splines.

5. Draw spline profile for plinth (the scale can be arbitrary so as correction sizes of the profile is easy among AF Loft modifier)

6. Select “Plinth” path spline and apply
the AF Loft modifier.
7. Push the Pick Shape button and pick the plinth profile.
As a result form passed all ledges and columns. Correcting the path is also
very easy, it needs to return by stack and add or delete segments and
path vertices. The modifier itself is not a complicated thing in studying -
test its different options without assistance there all is transparently and clearly.
By using SECTION objects we’ll get easy the path for application any
of the interior stucco mouldings for a few minutes.
