Example of creating tiles with usage "AF Tile"
This example shows how create tile surface
with seam.
| without seam |
black seam |
For beginning you should create materials (with seam) from which in
consequence "AF Tile" lay out tiles surface at random order.
We have used, as a tile texture
white square with black border on perimeter. |
Set material exactly the same Bump Map (Instance) and rather big
Bump Amount.
Added a little bit Reflection Map (we use the first got bitmap as a map,
mapping type Environment Screen).
So that create tiles of different colors,
exist a lot of methods, but in current
example we put on white tile texture "RGB Tint".
So we got blue material.
Exactly the same method has been done
another tile materials.
Now in new Material Editor Slot create material "AF Tile"
| In parameters rollout "Sub-Materials" set number of used
sub-materials (in current example 3)
Drag created materials
as sub- materials "AF Tile".
On question "Instance (Copy)
Material Method" answer
"Instance".
Now your new tile material consists
of references on early created materials.
You can simply edit them and watch for
changing "AF Tile" material.
So that see several tiles simultaneously (not only one) in
Material Editor Preview Slot, set to the maximum
"Sample UV Tile".
If you had done everything correctly, so you would get
approximately such material.
Assign this material on objects
and apply mapping on them.
For majority of the objects (especially if tile
size is small), good looking is UVW Map Box.
It's time for more detailed material tuning
At first try to change parameter
"Blend Levels"
Edit materials from which consisted the tiles
And the last thing, we would recommend to use "AF Tile" united with
"AF Material Correct".This can essentially quicken selection of tile colors
